HOW OUR YACHT RELOCATIONS WORK
We know that the majority of owners use sailor.com.au because it provides an affordable way to move their yachts to places that enhance their sailing experiences.
WE ARE A PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE MARKETPLACE
Sailor.com.au has created a unique model within yachting, connecting owners looking to relocate their yacht with professional offshore sailors looking to do relocations as part of their lifestyle.
Sailor.com.au is a people-to-people marketplace (some call it a two-sided platform) that economically empowers sailors and provides yacht owners with an affordable way to move their yachts to places they can't typically go.
Our superior business model means the vast majority of the economic benefits go to the yacht owners and sailors themselves on the marketplace.
Under this community model, sailors determine when they make themselves available, how much they charge, specific rules about what kind of gigs they will do, and where they would like to go.
For owners, the connection to the sailor via sailor.com.au allows them to relocate their yacht that usually costs less, is quicker and is undertaken with higher quality of sailor who are supported by better behind the scenes infrastructure, people and processes.

Sailor and yacht safety is our number one concern.
1 - YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR RELOCATION
Every relocation is different but its also the same. While the pickup and drop locations, route, prevailing conditions, the yacht, its seaworthiness and special needs are all unique - the way we undertake relocations is consistent, this way we ensure high quality and safety.

We listen and learn what is unique about your relocation and we create a Gig profile for you. This gig profile is used to search for offshore sailors who best match your unique gig.
2 - WE SEARCH & PROVIDE YOU A LIST OF IDEAL GIG CANDIDATES
The secret ingredient to our recipe for awesome yacht relocations is to start with the best offshore sailors. We make tremendous effort vetting sailors who want to become sailoroos. We check their experience, credentials and assess their abilities. Those that make the cut are top notch.

We take your relocation needs and search for sailors who best match what it is you told us about the gig. We find the highest ranked sailors that are near to either the pick-up or drop-off location. And we match against experience, credentials and rating.
We then pick the best sailors who would be available to do the gig and create a candidate list for you. This list includes their experience and what they will charge to do the gig.
3 -YOU SHORTLIST THE SAILORS YOU LIKE
The sailors in the candidate list are all great for the gig. The final crew selection comes down to your personal preference - you decide as you read their backgrounds.

Once you pick the ones that you prefer and this becomes the shortlist. These sailors are asked by sailor.com.au to decide if they would like to do the gig.
4 - THE SAILORS DECIDE
We provide the sailors an opportunity to decide if they are going to do the gig. The first sailors who accept get to do the gig.

Remember they are all great. (Some may not be able to travel to that location)
In order to facilitate a healthy and trusted community, we support people on both sides of the marketplace, including enabling sailor reviews, handling payments, vetting sailors credentials and reviewing seaworthiness amongst many things.

Under this community model, sailors determine when they make themselves available, how much they charge, specific rules about what kind of gigs they will do, and where they would like to go.

5 - COMMERCIALS ARE LOCKED IN
Once we have the sailors for your gig sailor.com.au will send you an offer proposal that details the commercial arrangement for the gig. This will cover the price and terms.

Once you accept this offer proposal, you make a down payment and the everything is locked and loaded.

You will need to make a series of payments - this is explained further if you want to know more, follow this link.
6 - YACHT RELOCATION HAPPENS
For you this the relocation is fairly straight forward and simple. For us this is what its all about we put a lot of effort to make something complex and difficult easy, simple and safe. You can learn more about the process of how the relocation work by following this link.

An important thing to mention is that crew will also do minor repairs and maintenance during the relocation passage. This is something that owners normally do when they cruise.
7 - THE RELOCATION GIG IS COMPLETED
The relocation is not completed once the yacht arrives at the destination drop-off location sound and safe. The sailors complete a number of important steps including preparing a relocation report with photos.

The relocation report provides a comprehensive explanation of what happened during the relocation, maintenance undertaken and any suggestions to improve the yacht or observations made of potential issues that need attention.

Once the report is completed sailor.com.au facilitates the payment to the crew if the yacht owner is satisfied with the relocation. In the rare circumstances sailor.com.au manages any disagreements should they arise and resolves these.
